Public Diplomacy and Exchange

Public Diplomacy and Exchange program includes meaningful participation of African and Americans in exchange programs that brings Africans to the U.S. and send Americans to African countries through state department funded programs, including Mandela Washington Fellowship, Fulbright programs, Community Engagement Exchange etc.

As part of our program, we  had the privilege to serve as one of the co-hosts for the Mandela Washington Fellowship’s Alumni Enrichment Institute. We co-hosted twenty five young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa in partnership with California State University Dominguez Hills, and Charles Drew University. A grant from the U.S. Department of State has made this exciting program a reality. The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). YALI was created in 2010 and supports young Africans as they spur economic growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa. Since 2014, the U.S. Department of State has supported nearly 5,100 Mandela Washington Fellows from across Sub-Saharan Africa to develop their leadership skills and foster connections and collaboration with U.S. professionals.
